Join the IPM Speakers Circle
By partnering your organization with IPM’s Speakers Circle, your group will be the first to know when Project Partners and IPM Regional Coordinators come to the US. Regardless of where you are located in the US, IPM representatives are available to speak in your community. (A donation to cover a portion of the expenses is always welcome!)
IPM speakers come from around the world with various fields of experience. Some speakers include:
Mahesh Upadhyaya
Since 2005 Mahesh has served as IPM’s Regional Consultant for the Indian Sub-Continent. In 2006, he joined IPM’s International Board of Directors. He has been involved in relief efforts and human rights movements throughout India. Mahesh works primarily in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, but frequently conducts site visits and training for IPM Project Partners and Regional Staff in the southern state of Tamilnadu, India. He specializes as a trainer and does freelance work with NGOs doing capacity-building work. He set up a Solidarity Centre in Ahmedabad to give support to small membership organizations as well is actively does human rights work. Additionally Mahesh has been associated with the Indian trade union movement in Gujarat, India.
Julieta Borja
Based in Zaragoza, El Salvador, Julieta is a Salvadoran who joined the staff in November of 2003. Since then, she has developed IPM’s presence in El Salvador by identifying and assisting IPM Project Partners as well as planning and leading IPM’s Immersion Experience Program in Latin America. With a degree in education from the University of Central America in El Salvador, Julieta also has extensive training in religious studies and teaching. Julieta travels to the US annually on behalf of IPM to talk to past participants and friends of IPM about current situation of IPM Project Partners in Central America.
Rufina Simiyu
Rufina Simiyu has been an active member of the IPM Sub-Saharan Africa Advisory Council for 2 years and was recently elected the Chair of the Sub-Saharan Africa Advisory Council. A civil servant (not elected) in the Nairobi Provincial Government, she is the Provincial Director of Social Services for the Ministry of Gender, Sports, Culture & Social Services. She is actively involved in IPM’s Immersion Experiences to Kenya and project site visits. In addition, she was a presenter at the 2003 Technical Assistance Training Workshop facilitated by IPM.
Caroline Mills
Caroline Mills is the Director of the Ft. Washakie Learning Center, an IPM’s Project Partner. Caroline earned her Bachelor Degree from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, and her Master of Arts Degree from the University of Wyoming. She has spent many years working in education for the Shoshone Tribe, including teaching high school social studies and working as the Higher Education Director for the Shoshone Tribe. Caroline’s long- standing involvement with IPM started as a Project Coordinator and progressed to membership on the Board of Directors.
